Process: Hanukkah
Step 1: Download and print the worksheet
Click on the picture to download the worksheet. You will only need 1 worksheet for your group. Once you can see the worksheet, click on the printer icon in the top left hand corner. This will print your worksheet.
Write the names of your group members in the top right hand corner of the worksheet. Don't forget to write the name of your class too!

Step 2: Exploring the basics
Read the questions on the worksheet carefully. Watch the Hanukkah video by clicking on the picture below. The video will help you begin to answer some of the questions on your worksheet. Remember- there are still lots of websites to explore so don't use big writing when filling in the boxes!
Did you discover some interesting facts about Hanukkah? It is important to know why people celebrate events. Click on the blue link below to discover why people celebrate Hanukkah. The link will take you to a podcast. That means that you will be taken to a site to listen to a person talk about Hanukkah. There will be no pictures so you will need to listen very carefully! (This will help you answer question 3 on your worksheet).
Step 3: When is Hanukkah? Who celebrates Hanukkah?
Not all events are celebrated at the same time of the year. Some events are celebrated early in the year during January, whilst others are celebrated later in the year and not everyone celebrates the same events. Your first job is to find out when Hanukkah is celebrated and who celebrates it. Is it celebrated on the same date every year? Does everyone celebrate Hanukkah?

Step 4: What special foods are eaten during Hanukkah?
When people celebrate they often eat special food. For example, many people have a birthday cake when it is their birthday...mmm...yummy!

When people celebrate events there are often special traditions that they follow. For example when people have a birthday, their friends and family will often sing 'Happy Birthday' and give them presents. It's your job to learn about

You should now have learnt lots of interesting things about Hanukkah. You now have a few things to check:

4. Do you have enough information to make your SMART Notebook file?
If you have answered no to any of the above questions, go back and click on the links again to find the information that you are missing.
